- Ansari talks about training with the Expedition 14 backup crew, speaking warmly about Peggy Whitson and Yuri Malenchenko.
- The German news agency DPA, meanwhile, has a somewhat odd, even mildly sexist article about Ansari: “Lipstick to hand, womankind will make another giant cosmic leap Monday,” the article starts, then goes on to discuss the handpicked shade of blue for her overalls and the cosmetics she’ll take with her to the ISS.
So if Peggy Wilson was already heading up on that flight why did they have to scramble to adjust equipment for females? Were they just gonna let Peggy use a diaper? Geez what a jip, become an astronaut, use a diaper but pay $20,000,000 and they’ll make you a female toilet?
Peter: Whitson, like Ansari, was on the backup crew for the mission, thus there was no need to modify the Soyuz’s toilet until Ansari replaced Enomoto. Had Whitson been named to the prime crew for some reason, I suspect similar modifications would have been made regardless if Ansari was flying or not.
